« on: April 11, 2010, 02:55:23 PM »
Well have been computerless for 4 days due to some issue! My best friend got me up and running again! He asked if I was up for another computer in the house! It feels like I need another but then maybe 2 problems sitting in the house! How many computers do you have! I have a desk top DELL! I think there all pretty good ! We had 2 compact computers before the dell! Dale

I have a desktop and 2 laptops.  At one time I had 5, but I gave 2 of the older ones away.
The older I get...The better I was.

2 modern home built PCs running XP Pro that are used daily, another test machine running W7, plus 20-30 that are operational, but older machines I've acquired over the years.

Three Desk Tops, one lap top, and one net book.

Two of the Desk Tops are on all the time.  The third one only gets used when one of the others goes down.

The Lap Top is Skyler's and he uses it at school.

The Net Book is mine and I carry it to meetings and on trips.

I've been off-line for near 2 weeks.  Too much static on the Dial-Up outside lines.  Repairman Finally switched me to another pair of lines and I'm up and running.   As for # of computers, 3; 2 desktops and a laptop operating XP.

1 nine year old lap top. Windows XP 2000. I have added a little ram. All the advertiseing that the Yahoo system eats up any extra capacity and slows it down pretty quick. I hope to get a MAC next time.

Two active desktops and a laptop accessed to internet. Goes up as kids come home!

Three older active desktops (networked) running shop and loading bench applications and older scanners and printers. Vista, XP, Win2000, Win982ndED, and Win95 - as they die, they may or may not be replaced.

Two desktops and a laptop on the home network and internet.  One very old (win 95) desktop that is not networked, that I run my ballistics and reload data and inventory programs on.  My newest has a wide screen monitor and a comfy office chair so I can stream movies.  8)

Usually just one Mac laptop.  Have an older one but don't use it much since it doesn't work on the internet.  My iTouch works as a backup.  PC's come home from work from time to time.

Way too many.

1 Windows desktop that I use for gaming. (AMD Phenom 2.5Ghz Quad-Core w/ 4GB RAM)
1 "Hackintosh" (homebuilt Mac) for when I want to use MacOS X. (Intel Pentium 1.8Ghz Dual Core w/ 2GB RAM)
1 Linux desktop that i use for my normal web browsing and computer usage (AMD Athlon 2.1Ghz Dual Core w/ 2GB RAM)
1 Testing machine that I use for playing around with whatever catches my fancy - it's currently has HaikuOS installed (AMD Sempron 2.0Ghz w/ 1GB RAM)
1 Laptop hooked up to the TV for transferring movies to it (AMD Athlon 1.0Ghz w/ 512MB RAM)
1 Laptop to actually take places and use (AMD Sempron Mobile 2.0Ghz w/ 2GB RAM)
And 1 older PowerMac G4 (Dual 550Mhz PowerPC's with 768MB of RAM)

Plus enough scattered parts to get probably 3-4 more running from the pieces :).

This isn't counting my router which is running a custom firmware or my D-Link NAS file server, both of which are running some flavor of Linux and can run small programs like Bittorrent clients or iTunes servers as needed.

Yeah, I'm a computer nerd :P.

We have three up and running computers here with 5 monitors, but I would dare say that we have twenty or thirty more that would work if we hooked them up.  ;)

here at the house... about 20 that could be working in just minutes. at GB's house... I would dare say I still have 100 or more out there all of which could be made to work in less than an hour.
