7-30 JDJ...?????
« on: April 21, 2010, 05:03:40 PM »
Anyone heard of a 7-30 JDJ for the Contender? I found one and can't find any info on this. Any of you have one or have and reload data for it?

The 7-30 JDJ is basically the same as the 7 Super Bower as both can be based on improved versions of the 307 or 356 Win cases (or they can even be made from a 444 Marlin case with more work).   I usedd to have a 7SB Contender barrel.

The 7SB (by bullet weight) gives an average of about 2800fps for 100 gr, 2600fps for 120 gr and 2400fps for 140 gr.

I mostly shot 140 gr bullets and used H450 for them.   I don't give out my pet loads to anyone, and all my Super Bower data sheets from Don Bower are somewhere in storage.   But...

The 7-30JDJ data can be obtained from JD Jones at SSK (a GBO board sponsor) if you have a barrel chambered for it (JD doesn't usually supply data if you don't have a barrel IOW).

The 7 Super Bower data can possibly be obtained from Marc Sheehan if you can run him down (can't find my contact info for him at the moment).

Also, Ernie (xphunter) here on GBO might have the Bower data sheets (or Marc's info).

So there's a start for you...

One species has evolved into obese cranial fatheads with thin skin in comparison that whines about anything and everything as their shield against their environment. Meus

Ask for data from SSK.

When I contacted  SSK Industries a couple years ago I was told they have 3 - 7mm Cartridges for the Contender. The first the 7mm JDJ uses the .225 Winchester Brass, the second the 7mm JDJ #2 uses .307 Winchester Brass and is basically the same as the 7mm Super Bower and the 7x30 JDJ is an improved version of the 7-30 Waters.

I do have some data supplied by SSK for the 7x30 JDJ.
