Every once in a while I'll read the threads about the 1911's and think about buying one again.  I mostly like reading all the different guys argue over all the bs people like to argue about regarding guns, and it seems that every time someone is really convinced their 1911 is the "best" it's made somewhere other than the USA.  I'm going to start challenging myself more to sticking with buying stuff made in the USA from start to finish.  I used to think Springfield was and was pretty disappointed when I found out they were made in brazil.

With that in mind, is there anyone left who makes a 1911 from start to finish in the USA anymore?  If I ever buy another 1911 all American handgun, then I'd like it to truely be an all American handgun from engineering, manufacturing, assembling, & everything.

I believe Colt, Kimber, USFA, Les Baer, to name a few.  Now if your talking say, where the bulk metal, for example, is sourced, it may be somewhere like Japan, as our steel industry is not what it was.  Fancy hardwood or ivory grips come from other countries.

Personal opinion is a good thing, and everyone is entitled to one.  The hard part is separating informed opinion from someone who is just blowing hot air....

Check around many  builders buy frames and slides others one or the other from other sources. Still many of those are made in the USA.
I also like to buy American when American is priced right and of better quality. I guess the auto industry pizzed me off along with alot of others. While Japan and others were sending quality many here were saying buy American even if the quality was bad.
Hey even Uncle Sam buys off shore brands for the military . I know they are produced here but in the end where does the profit go back to ? Thats important as it is often used aginst us like Citco Gas  ;).
If ya can see it ya can hit it !

Kahr Thompson "Auto-Ordnance"  is right here in Wooster,Mass. thats why i chose it for my 4th new 1911.  Kimber is manufactured in that great state of Texas.  I'm to the point just give me any 1911 manufactured anywhere that functions right out of the box and has the quality plus dependability and reliability that we expect and pay for up with no so called break in time due to poor quality control and poor fitting parts. We have lost our manufacturing capabilites in this country, heck we can't even print $100 dollar bills so our goverment is slacking too. Now i want to purchase more new 1911's  just to test them to see if there good or not right out of the box.  Thats my quest for 2011.

We had one steel plant running in PA left but i'm not sure if its still running now or not.  This imported steel is crap, the minute you torch cut it or try to weld some of it, it bends up and twists like a banana.  I just cut that stuff into short small pieces to be used as gussets later.

We buy the valaro gas and its from venezualia (sorry i can't spell it but there guns are good) were the pres hates the USA but the bottomline our money $$$ is good anywhere yet we spend it were the people hate us.  We even build up countries that turn on us too and we do it over and over again, then we need to kick there @sses.   Go figure.  What really ticks me off is we let noriaga bring drugs into this country to sell the to support the contra with drug $$$.  Too bad ollie north took the brunt of that. One cover up after another.
