Garage sale find, Bear Kodiak 1964

A buddy of mine said he saw a recurve at a garage sale on Sunday, and so I took a look. I got him down to $70 and bought it. I didn't know what I had, but it was straight and in 9.5/10 condition. No holes, just some surface scuffs that should clean up.

Researching my bow, I found this article:

According to the article, I have a 1964 Bear Kodiak, considered one of the best bows Bear ever made. It's a keeper!

Save your lottery ticket money you have your winner in hand. I was stupid and unknowingly put a fast flight string on my "72 and knocked the tip overlay loose.

I had one of those.  Mine was 45#@28" and a very sweet shooting bow.

I've got a Bear Kodiak Magnum I bought in the Ft. Benning PX in  :-\ lessee here... 19 and 72 I think it was.  Great bow, think I'll fling a few arra's with it!   ;D

Great find!! Once in while a stop at a garage sale pays off.  Got an Indian Archery 40# for $3 at a local sale.  Came with a orginal Bear bowfishing real.  Though about talking the guy down but really couldn't.  The bow has proven to be a fine shooter.

I've spared no expense getting this old bow back in shape. New flemish twist, string silencers, cat-hair limb silencers, tip protector, strap-on quiver, bear hair rug and strike plate, etc.  Pacifica Archery set me up with arrows (full-length Easton 2117 w/ 125 gr tips), they seem perfect for the bow. I shot for 3 hours on Sunday, I have numb fingers, aching arms, a welt on my left shoulder, and a fat lip from my glove hand hitting me. But I'm all smiles, this is one sweet shooting bow. I was hitting the 60 yard target, and I never shoot that far. At 30 yards this thing is deadly.
