Need Sig Advise
« on: April 09, 2009, 08:57:55 PM »
Does this gun look normal for a gun that has only 200 rounds through it? My glock has 300 through it and the extractor looks newe still?

Number/numbers of rounds?
I have bought guns that had in excess of 10,000 rounds thru it. Paid a fair price.
If your gun, and I am talking of the one pictured, is clean and functions with all ammo, who cares.
What I am saying is that a weapon with few rounds can be sold because it does not function--so therefore; few rounds thru it.
A person who plays the games will often want to sell a particular weapon because they want a new toy or caliber, and it may have 10,000 rounds down range. I would and did buy such a gun---I had no problems and liked the gun.
Now, I have no anal thoughts about a used weapon. i have anal thoughts about the pieces in the weapon.
Too this end, since I am not mechanically turned, I generally, well more than generally, will take it to aSmith and get his opinion about the parts and let him do his magic.
If this part looks worn, it is because there are two surfaces which rub. Smooth it out with some emory cloth or take it too a Smith---my choice.
Blessings

I have a few Sigs and all wear differently in that area. My newer 226 started showing wear in the 1st couple hundred rounds and has nothing to do with it's performance. ** The majority of Sigs(well mine anyways) love to be wet, I oil them up real good.

On the other hand(err hip), I have a West Germany 226(see pic at bottom) that's over 20 years old and it looks incredible for having in excess of 7 or 8,000 rounds thru it. I have beaten the crap out of it it amazes me how it takes the abuse and just shoots better and better the older it gets.

Sigs customer service will tell you that a Sig is not broke in until you have fired at least 300 rounds down the barrel! ;)
