Mountain Moulds

Sir;

I received the mould I ordered today and had to try it right away.  I was very impressed with how well it cast and the bullets came out exactly as specified.   I was attempting to work up a load for a 30-40 Krag sporter I have so I tried some of the bullets in that first.  I seated the gas check and sized them to 314 in my Lyman 45 and then sized them to 311 in a Lee die.  I loaded the bullets with one of my favorite cast loads 14.0 Gr. of Herco.  The Krag I am working with is one that has a somewhat less than pristine bore and although it will still group jacketed bullets well it isn't my first choice for a cast bullet gun, groups in the past have run from 3 to 5 inches at 100yds.  Since the gun will shoot jacketed slugs I cast these slugs from 1/4 pure lead and 3/4 linotype and dropped a bullet weighing 220.5 Grains.  I seated then with the Lee crimp on the middle of the top band and this put the bullet just into the rifling and lightly engraved the nose of the bullet.  I then went out and shot 5 shots from the window of the car and they all went into 2 1/2" at 100 yards.  Even if I never use this for the Argentine rifle I am overjoyed as to how well the bullet shoots.  This may become my standard Krag bullet.  Thank you for a quality product.  You may be sure I will recommend you to everyone.  A copy of this letter will be posted on Graybeard and Hunting Firearms.

Jim

Anyone reading this fine endorsement needs to know [if you don't already] that this kind of experience is the norm with Mountain Molds.  I read these same very positive reviews all over the net from many, many different guys. A quality product at a very reasonable price.

For a new guy starting out casting having a quality mold like this adds greatly to your enjoyment. Dan or whoever would surely help with the right selection. Make a nice stocking stuffer....
