Thanks guys, it works flawlessly.  I missed the 100 yard gong by about four feet on the first shot. I had not planed on shooting it that day, but said what the hell and took it to the range. I only had two balls for it ( hard rubber LaCross balls )  but I had to shoot it.  this is no prticular "gun"  it was what I could do with what I found at the metal depot, a chunk of steel tube.  I then had it machined to my specs,( that I made up in my head  ) I had a plug / chamber made, pressed it in, pinned it, welded it , back plated and welded that also.  The carrage is bassed on a mountain Howitzer  the elevator is a brass acme screw from a large fire sprinkler valve. I still have a bunch of iron bits, handles and such to finish up....  but one thing is sure... it works, both with fuse and with musket caps.

That would be a MacGyver pattern cannon.

Guzzibill,
That's some sweet "surf music" on the soundtrack of a video that features an even sweeter looking gun; ya gotta be from California. ;D

I looked up some info on the balls: About 2.5" diam., and weight from 5 to 5 and a quarter oz.; How did those solid rubber lacrosse balls hold up to being fired?
RIP John. While on vacation July 4th 2013 in northern Wisconsin, he was ATVing with family and pulled ahead of everyone and took off at break-neck speed without a helmet. He lost control.....hit a tree....and the tree won.  He died instantly.
