Single Action IWB Holster

Has anyone heard of an IWB holster for a single action revolver? Would this be practical at all?

yes, i received one a year and a half ago made by Milt Sparks from their Summer Special (S/S) line of IWB holsters.

they say they don't make too many IWB holsters for the SAA, never more than a couple a year, so they seem to be pretty rare items.

mine was build for a 4.75" Colt in Natural Tan with 1.75" belt loops for right-hand carry. price was $92 and wait time was over 8 months. i got it to fit the longest SAA barrel i have, but it works perfectly with my 3.5" USFA Storekeeper and 3.75" Ruger Montado (and doesn't look or feel silly, like it does when wearing a long exposed/visible holster with a short barreled gun).

i've been buying milt's holsters for almost 40 years. having tired many many brands, i think they are the best there is. leather, quality, design are all top-notch.

i've worn it twice when i went to the city, but where i live concealment isn't an issue so it sits unused. i didn't find wearing it any different than any other Summer Special i've owned that was built for a large handgun (of course smaller-thinner guns are a bit easier to pack in the waistband).

if you want to order one, they only take new orders twice a year. next date for new orders is May 1st 2010. i suggest starting to call very early in the day because i got a busy signal for over 4 hours before i got through. you can read about the rules for ordering on the home page.

http://www.miltsparks.com/

from the Summer Special page:

"Designed by the late Bruce Nelson, the Summer Special has become the classic IWB holster by which all others are judged. With permission, Milt began producing the Summer Special, helping to meet the demand Bruce was unable to fulfill due to his then involvement in law enforcement. Milt initially improved on the design by adding sight rails, and then again later with the addition of a second belt loop The S/S  features a metal stiffener in the top band which allows for effortless one handed re-holstering. Belt loops are secured with one way directional snaps. The rough out leather grips the clothing for secure positioning, and the smooth interior is easier on your guns finish.
The Summer Special comes standard with two belt loops, except for small revolvers and some small autos which come with one loop. Please specify your belt width so we can properly fit the belt loop."

hope that helps.

i usually carry a 1911 like that. I tried single actions in iwb but the cyl bulge is just to big to be comfortable for me. Keep in mind i have a belly and no but. Ive found the best way to carry a single action consealed is in a high riding outside pancake holster or a harness rig like a doc holiday that elpaso leather makes. Another problem with carrying a single action is if its blued an iwb holster is going to wear on your finish fast

They are very practical! My Wife got me one from El Paso Saddlery & I love it. It's comfortable, stays in position, & allows you to reholster. I use it a lot.  ;)

I have a SimplyRugged pancake style holster for a single action with inside out snaps, I have worn it IWB a few times but not very much, I have two pair of jeans that feel comfortable with this, but all the others are not the right size.  It's a lot to stick down my pants so the pants have to be the right size.  If you get the pants size and style down pat you can do it OK, but I'll tell ya what, that big ol cylinder takes up a lot of room.

What I see about the holsters showed above, other than their good design and quality, it the fact that they require you to wear a belt to snap them on. I seldom wear a belt and always wear suspenders. I need one that has a simple clip to fasten to my waist band on my pants.

Anyone seen one of them??
