480 Load Question
« on: April 25, 2010, 05:32:21 PM »
Do I use the starting charge for a 325 grain BTB as I would for 325 grain XTP or Golddot?
I do have load data from the sites of Hodgdon, Speer, Alliant, Accurate and Ramshot.
My Lee manual doesn't list anything for the 325 BTB.

Probably BUT you need to determine how much case capacity the cast bullet is using as compared to the jacketed bullet that the data is listed for. Lead bullets have less friction thus some what lower pressure assuming same weight and roughly same contact surface.

What ya gotta be sure about is how much if any deeper does it sit in the case thus reducing case volume for the combustion chamber of the case.

Well, I'm not sure on the LBT bullets, but the ones I use take up less than the jacketed bullets compared weight for weight. Reason being the nose is longer than the jacketed.
