Express vs Sureshot
« on: May 28, 2010, 11:23:21 AM »
Not wanting to hijack the Express vs Wingmaster thread,
I'm looking at the 870 Express and the 870 Sureshot 20ga youth model
for my son.
Can you tell me if there is any difference other than
the Sureshot having a gray laminate stock vs the
870 Express having regular hardwood?

Express is $329.99 at Sports Authority

SureShot is $279.99 at Academy.

Thanks in advance!

ill try and answer your question. as far as i know all new express come with either a laminate wood stock or sythentic. the sureshot stock is a thumbhole type stock like this one
http://www.remington.com/products/firearms/shotguns/model-870/model-870-sps-synthetic-turkey.aspx
this is what the standard laminate stock looks like (more or less)
http://www.remington.com/products/firearms/shotguns/model-870/model-870-express.aspx
now unless these are speciality models i doubt there would be any real diffrence. FYI i do have the standard 870 20 gauge youth with the laminate stock (not a youth anymore though i'm 26) and really like it even with the youth stock. my dad has the same gun but he put a fullsize stock on his. i'm probably going to buy another one in a few years when my sons older he's not getting mine
common sense is slowly becoming uncommon

Thanks sachel.45

Yeah the Shurshot at Academy may be a special for them model
as it doesn't seem to be listed on Remingtons website.  Stock looks
same as the Express other than being the gray laminate.

Thanks again.
