My question is I have an TC Ecore chambered for the 308 Win. Its
ok but a little heavy on the recoil, especially with fact. loads.
I have reloaded 20 cases with 125 gr. Sierra spitzers w/ 44 grains of H4895. Have yet to test these loads.
I am currently searching for another barrel for my Encore and right now thinking of the 44 Mag. I also want to use cast bullets with this barrel. Both the 308 and 44 Mag used primarily for deer hunting here in upstate NY. Anybody have any other caliber suggestions?

I have an encore pistol chambered in 7mm BR.  It shoots 120-140 grain bullets extremely well, but I have yet to take a deer with it, as I am just getting into handgun hunting myself.  I can tell you that recoil is not an issue with it, as it is a very "sweet" shooter.  It's limiting factor is that it will have a shorter range than the 308 and you will most probably have to reload.  I would say 150 yards or less.  That is not a problem for me as I did not build it to be a +100 yard hunting gun.  The more experienced guys on this site indicated to me that this was plenty enough gun for short range whitetail hunting.  Another alternative might be the 7x30 waters, which is available in factory ammo.

My experience with the  .260 Remington is Great.  I shot my 4th NY Whitetail with it Tuesday.  Large Doe in Wyoming County, South West of Rochester.  Angling slightly toward me, standing.  High shoulder hit @ about 65 - 70 yds.  Deer hunched up and ran about 40yds across a grass field and dropped.  Using Nosler 120 Ballistic Tips over 39.5GR IMR 4895 gives about 2525fps from the 15" barrel. Sweet and accurate load.

Wish I had missed the shoulder.... The Ballistic Tip is Awesome!!

From what I have read here, the 260 Rem. & 7MM-08 are very similar in performance with the same weight bullets.  I don't think that you can go wrong with either.
