Hey there:
Well, I got my RWS-350 Mag and that baby is awesome. It's very nice finished, and extremely accurate and powerful. I shot it with the only 22 pellets I have, (gotta get stocked up), they are the Daisy 22 caliber, premium grade. I weighed them on my Lyman-Ohaus scale, and they average 15 grains, (random selection from box).
I shot completely through 2 pieces of thick, very touch plastic, and the pellet went on into the wild blue yonder. Next, I shot completely through 2 pieces of new "tin" scrap. This was new roofing metal, very thick and strong. It shot through these materials like going through hot butter.
This rascal has an extremely strong spring. I am used to cocking my RWS-34 in 177 caliber. I thought it was pretty robust, but this 350 22 caliber, I think I may end up with arms looking like Popeye the Sailor man. I am getting better and better with it, may have to eat lots more spinach like ole Popeye, tho.
It doesn't make as much noise as my 177 caliber. Don't have a clue why that is true. I know I would have never, ever believed an air rifle would have the kind of power this rascal has. Oh, I am familiar with Lewis and Clark's air rifle on their journeys, it could kill elk and deer. But, I'm not interested in air rifles of that caliber or size. So, I'll keep my 22 caliber, get my Popeye the Sailor man arms, and keep on shooting. In the future, I may get a "big bore" air rifle, a 25 caliber, etc. I love the 25 calibers in my powder type guns.
Well, the ole Wily crows, ole Heckle and Jeckle, I'm gonna scare them so bad, they are gonna bring back what they stole last year. These pecan stealing crows and squirrels better beware for sure now.
Especially to you, Lawdog, what weight pellet would you shoot in this thing, and pass any info along from your future son-in-law. All my squirrel and crow loads up till now have been with Thompson-Center Contender Pistols. I use 4.5 grains of Red Dot behind the 55 grain FMJ bought in bulk. This chronographs out to 1303 fps average, and average ft/lbs of 207. I load the same load in my 221 Fireball, 222 Rem. and 223 Rem. This is from 14" barrels with a good scope on each gun. This load puts all bullets in about a 1/4" hole up to about 70 yards.
Well, better get off here, go shoot the RWS-350 Mag some more, and hurry and develop them Popeye the Sailor man biceps, and eat more spinach. The wily ole crows and squirrel pecan thieves better watch out.
Yall hurry up and write some hunting stories, varmint shooting, or just plain ole fun shooting stories. I am bad hooked on all this now, this has become my favorite forum. I still love my "powder" guns, do lots of reloadiong and shooting them also. I guess I'm just being a kid again, and I love it, and will keep on doing stuff as long as the Good Lord lets me.
Take care
