Just picked up a H&R with AS ser# and it has a 45/70 ejector barrel on it. Am I about to die as I don't think this was a factory offering?
It has the small fireing pin.

Is it a model 155 Shikari?  AS= 1978, the Shikari was made 1973-1981 in 44mag and 45-70, trapdoor loads only. Are the last 3 digits of the frame serial number the same as those on the underlug?

No sir the ser# is three numbers off. I really think its a newer barrel as it has Williams sights. The stock is nicer wallnut not pallet wood and nice case color. I guess the Hornady LE ammo might be to hot

If you do your load research, you will be amazed at how much power can be obtained with trapdoor level loads.  That is if you reload anyway.  With the right powder, 300 grain bullet velocity can easily exceed 2000 fps within the 28,000 cup trapdoor limit. 

I dont know what pressure the 45-70 LE is loaded to, but it is possible that it does not exceed the 28,000 cup limit. Again though, I have no idea.  Traditional factory loads from the big 3 are usually loaded in the 18k to 21k range I believe.

While the barrel may be new and may be able to handle OMG loads, listen to Tim.  the frame may not be made to handle the OMG loads.
45-70 in trapdoor loads are nothing to scoff at.  405 grains of lead at 1300+ FPS at the hole is more than enough.
A million or so Buffalo were killed with it at longer ranges than you normally shoot.

Reason about asking about the Hornady stuff is because I have alot of them. I don't reload anymore and there is none of the Remington or Winchester ammo in town and may not be for a year or more. I know for sure my Buffalo Bore ammo is way to much. Ammo is a small downfall of liveing on a small island in Alaska

The LE ammo is still loaded to trapdoor pressure level, SAAMI MAP is 28kpsi.

Thanks Tim. If you had said no-way I would not shoot it. Its hard to find new/used guns here in the no where land. When the gun was offered I jumped on it because if I didn't the next person would. I have a Ruger #3 for the hot stuff plus a 45colt BC I could put the barrel on if I had to,just prefer complete guns. Thanks
