Another cattle stalker down
« on: May 06, 2010, 08:36:42 AM »
Went out last night and did some calling with pup whines.  I figured with the real thing about to drop out of the moms very soon, the instinct for protecting the young is in full gear.  I had the call on MAYBE 3 minutes and this male came running into 35yds of me.  I put a 40gr HP from my 22mag right between the eyes and it dropped in its tracks. A 22 mag kill on a yote was a first for me.  Using a white light was too.  I have been reading up on the controversy of red and white lights on dogs.  I have used red lights for years.  I had the white light just bright enough on the rheostat to see eye shine.  When I picked this fella up at 70yds, he didnt give two poops about the white light.  At 35yds, I turned the light up to almost full power and it didn't phase it at all.  He was just intent on looking for the distressed coyote pups.

It's all a hot mess...........

Sounds like a good time Swift :) What kind of light are you using? Do YOU hold it when shooting? What brand is that rifle?  Feel like you're taking a TEST ;D
I think you are starting to catch on to this coyote hunting ;D Good Shootin ;)

He may be in the state of Canada. I would like to be paid for them but am afraid it would bring out more people to educate them and cause other problems.
