Opinions on Hornets

I am looking for a .22 Hornet bolt action rifle. Do not want a big heavy target model. Which on of these would you pick and why.
Browning A-Bolt Micro
CZ 527
Ruger 77/22 with a 20" barrel

I'd buy the ruger...but have it worked on.  Anyone will do!

I own the Ruger out of the group nad really like it.
Have not had it worked on and it has been a good little varmint and medium game rifle.
I first had way too big of a scope on the rifle and it shot great, now have a 3-9X38 Weaver on it and it will shoot heavier bullets better.
I like the rotary mag and have three for the gun.
I have a CZ 527 as well but in 223.  If you are going to get one I would suggest the 223 and make use of the full length of the action.

  I am not a Ruger rifle fan, but pal has one in a Hornet and loves it...others I have heard of were not so happy...I bought a Browning in 1995....I love it...for somethings it is perfect...woods loafing, squirrel hunting, close range varmits, garden patrol, I think if I were not buying aBrowning, I would go CZ....I have never owned a CZ, but like them very much..Also this is the only Browning I own...I have varmit rifles for longer shots..MC suggested a .223...for mostly varmit hunting, it is a dandy...depending on what you want this rifle for, would be important..I wanted a close range varmit, and small game rifle...for this the Hornet is wonderful...

At one time, I had a CZ 22 hornet.  I thought they were great rifles, only trouble spot was getting magazines, but maybe that has changed since there are more stocking dealers now.  If you reload, cases are thin, so easy to crush when seating bullets.

I already own a CZ 527 in .221fb. So leaning that way a little more. The A-bolts work and handle nice but how is the trigger? This will be a walk around rifle so I don't need some super light trigger. I would like to able to adjust it.

I had a Ruger 77/22RS Hornet sporter for a few years after the chambering was first introduced, but decided I really didn't care for either the sharp/flat stock bottom or the plastic magazine - so sold it and later bought a CZ-327 Lux Hornet that had wonderful figure/grain in it's stock ILO the usual peanut-butter-look.

I had the mag altered to a flush fit (CZ now offers it as the M1), for a really smooth style -

 - and it turned out to be very slightly more accurate than the Ruger, to boot.

Neither of my specimens needed (or got) any trigger or bedding work, and all I ever put through them both was commercial fodder.

I'd go with the CZ.  The single set trigger is fantastic.  I have one in .223 and it is amazingly accurate (sub-MOA).

Had a Sako and a Kimber in 22 hornet.  Sold both, use a 222.  More versatile, use reduced loads or full power, also more accurate.

  The Hornet in a Browning is very light, a super walking rifle..I had the trigger adjusted and it is excellent, but it did need that done...as far as the Hornet crushing cases, I  debur the new cases, and have loaded several thousand, and don't remember crushing on e.. as for the .222, I love it, but for reduced loads to me they are a pain...cases have to be kept seperate, and loads identified some how...plus I tried shooting grouse with the .222, and it was no go...with the Hornet, grouse, squirrel, cottontails., I just put the crosshair below the eye and squeeze..to me the Hornet is a perfect small game close range varmit rifle...the Browning makes and excellent walk around rifle...Handle them both...while I would like a CZ, as I said, I love this little Browning and I am not a Browning fan...

I have a Kimber Mdl 8122 Hornet  rifle but after getting a 221 Fireball  rifle it stays home. There are a number of problems that one can have with that old thin walled tapered case. The 221 Fireball is eazy to reload when compared to the Hornet. Years ago the K Hornet was developed to overcome some of the problems and to increase the case capacity of the Hornet case.

I would get the CZ. I have an American in .223 and it is about as close as you can get to a perfect walking rifle. A CZ in .221 FB and .22 hornet are on my wish list.

I had a NEF handi rifle in 22 hornet once but sold it when it stopped ejecting fired cases. Love the cartridge tho.

I have a Harrington and Richardson ejector model 22 Hornet and a couple of Browning A Bolt's therefore I would say the Micro Hunter would be awesome!

On the other hand I really hear good things about the CZ and love the way they feel.
