Another post that I should've put up last fall.
My second tag was for a doe and I wanted to take this one on the ground. I found a nice blown down tree and after cutting a few branches for clearance and a few more for cover, I was set.
It was the last day of October and I'd just emptied a day pack of apples on the trail in front of my "ground blind" of a blown down tree. I waited about 25 minutes, a nice sized doe came walking down the trail and started eating the apples. I watched as she ate the apples, for about 15 minutes...one, two, three apples. I was starting to think she was going to eat them all.
As she walked by my location, at 15 yards I drew my bow and she stopped behind a tree. She turned to go back the way she'd came in and in doing so she got closer to me. Now, she's 6 yards and starts walking away at an extreme angle.
At 10 yards, I tucked the sight pin just ahead of her left rear leg, to get under the rib cage and released the arrow. She bucked her hooves and bolted off into the woods. I watched as she trotted, turned to the right and at about 80+ yards she crashed.
I took up the trail right away. No blood for about 30 yards and then the blood was crazy. Ray Charles could've found this deer.
I used a Fuse Banshee broadhead, that entered the front of her left rear leg and exited just ahead of her right front shoulder. The only vital organ that I didn't hit was the right lung. She's a 4 1/2 year old 180 lb. doe and good eating.

Good job on picking the right angle through the deer. It's sometimes hard to "aim for the exit", but always is the best choice.
