Lookin to Ditch My Scope........
« on: May 15, 2010, 06:52:50 PM »
Hello everybody.  I have a question for you all.  I have a Handi in 500 Magnum.  I have a scope on the gun.  Its a shotgun scope.  2-7x32.  I just recently shot about 20 rounds out of the gun.  To make a long story short I just don't like the scope.  Especially out of that hard of a recoiling gun.

Looking to go to an open sight setup.  Seen where XS Sights has their Ghost Ring Backup system.

Would these sights work with my installed scope rail?
Does that sight system come with a front sight?

Thanks

Brandon

Don't the 500's have sights on 'em already? Mine did.

If it came with the Williams guide with a v-notch just change the notch for the peep. Probably not more than five bucks or so

The XS sights mount in two of the same holes that your scope rail uses.

Ok.  I thought the XS BACKUP Sights were meant so that the rear sight mounted on your scope rail as a "backup" to your scope.  And then I was curious as to if that came with its own dront sight as well or not.

And yes my gun came with sights.  But out of the box the holes in the barrel for the screws to hold on the front sight were machined too big.  In the process of trying to find a way to mount the front sight anyway, I broke the front sight.  I have since lost the rear sight.

I was interested in the XS Sights because it seems as though it would allow me to keep the scope rail mounted just incase sometime down the road I wanted to try a scope again.  And plus if I take off the scope rail I am going to have to track down some small screws to fill in the holes on top of the barrel where the scope rail was mounted.

Thanks again.

Until you find filler screws just rub some beeswax into the holes.

That's a good idea.
