Shootall, WINS!!!

Until folks start to realize that all these laws are nothing more than to make MONEY for all the different governments we will continue to have a bigger, controlling government.

I think that saving money was a big part of the AZ law.  Half their prisoners are illegals.  Deport them, deport a ton of expenses.  By making Arizona the one state where illegals are more likely to be caught and sent home, they made the neighboring states more atractive to the coyotes and gang bangers.  Again, the expenses will be racked up in other states.  It's all about the money.

The bill for housing illegals in custody falls on the Federal government not the states.  I can't speak for other states but here in the midwest states generally want to resolve an illegals legal issues as quickly as possible in order to hand them off to immigration and get them off the state books.

Dukk in a fantacy world what you say is true. But in reality when a county get an illegal in on say a DWI or some other minor crime the county jail houses them throughout their sentence. And when their sentence is done INS will not pick them up and they are released back into the community.
99% of all Lawyers give the other 1% a bad name. What I find hilarious about this is they are such an arrogant bunch, that they all think they are in the 1%.

I can only tell you from first hand experience that this is not true.  Well the part about the feds letting them go may be.  What happens when someone gets booked for something and not released is that the Feds put an ICE hold on them (DUI was a bad example because they may bond out before ICE catches up to them).  That means when they are due to be released from county jail or state prison they will be held for the Feds to come get them.  My experience has been that they usually do.  To cut costs judges will grant probation and prosecutors will encourage quick pleas so they can be turned over quickly.  I can only speak for the courts around here.

Well Dukk my brother happens to be the sheriff in a Minnesota county and ICE will not take anyone who has not been convicted of a major crime. And the judge won't bond out someone who does not have an established identity.

Ok, I guess I'd take that up with Minnesota.  ICE has a somewhat confusing set of laws they care about.  It's not as simple as, "serious" or "not serious".  For instance a B misdemeanor for domestic violence is presumptive deportation and they will take them, but many felony property crimes aren't.  The SCOTUS just released a case dealing with presuptive exportation and it's applications on defendants.  The term is "crimes of moral turpitude" if that helps any, it's never really helped me.

I suspect that policies are different in far flung places but the Kansas court house where I do most of my work is only a couple of miles from the Federal Court and they pretty much always pick them up.  Maybe if the drive would be to long and the crime is not presumptive deportable they handle it differently.

I grew up on the border in AZ. Emigre would pick up any illegal for simply being illegal and haul them back. They even had an unofficial stop outside the kmart in Douglas/Agua Prieta cause it's tough carrying bags back over the fence. What changed recently is the volume, it has become cost prohibitive to keep that many buses going. They tried flying them to Mexico City but that's expensive too, so only felons get that now if at all. I can see why Minnesota might not want to pay the $ to send them back.

Weve had militia patrolling the border for decades too. Detain, hand out cards, radio BP, along come the buses.

Recent activities would imply to patrol in groups well armed.
