Broke my P-95DC Yesterday...
« on: May 16, 2010, 04:49:37 PM »
I was at the range having a good day with the P-95 9x19mm, then things changed when I got home and field stripped it to clean it. The recoil spring collar retainer apparently broke, because when i took the slide off the springs  and collar shot into my hand. What would cause a part as simple as this to fail? The gun is about a year old and has been fired less than 1500 times. The only thing I can see is a small burr on the slide where the spring retainer would fit into... Any thoughts, or just a fluke bad part.

Anything mechanical can fail. Some things are just more reliable than others. Some times it can be something as simple as a slight flaw in a casting.

yep, anything with multiple parts can fail. i had this exact same handgun, and shot the crap out of it. its a well built if not over built gun and i never had it fail, stove pipe or anything like breaking parts.
my guess, it was just a fluke, replace the part and forget about this small hick-up.
the 95dc is a tank and ruger handgun are second to none in my mind

Is that the part that is not really needed?
