got a new baraga 243 barrek the other day along with a talley mount. started to put it on today and the screws acted like they were trying to cross thread. does these barrels have different threads? James

Bergara barrels are supposed to work with T/C products so I can't imagine that they would take a nonstandard screw size.  Take your best looking screw and try to start it in each of the holes without the base on.  If you can get it started, then you know the thread pitch is correct.  If you have problems with one screw try a different one.  Once you get a screw started, screw it in all the way and then remove it; that generally will flatten out a burr that may be interferring with proper thread engagement.

I think they are made in Turkey. May be a little cheaper but trying to buy American. There are places you can order TC barrels below retail and would be choice.

I think Spain also.  Are you sure the screws aren't metric?  That would make sense to me.  And do I understand the Tally mount is made for a TC or for a Bergera?  I don't have Encores so I don't know if they are interchangeable.

Yep, they're made in Spain. The base mount holes are threaded for standard base screw (pitch 6-48). There could be a slight burr, or some preservative in the holes, and possibly on the screws too. Talley rings should have 6-48 pitch also, but they might be a different length overall. The Bergara barrels do not have some sort of oddball Spanish metric screw size.

I've got a couple of the barrels, but since I did clean up the mounting holes and the screw threads, they went in fine. I'd find a gunsmith if they gave me trouble like you described, because any gunsmith worthy of the name has scope mounting 6-48 taps lying around like the rest of us have screwdrivers and crescent wrenches.
