I loaded some 130 grain Barnes XBT's for a .308 Savage bolt and this round (not used by me) has killed Elk and Canadian Whitetails, one at 405 meters.

I use the Barnes 130 XBT in my 30-30 single shot. Great bullet and round for whitetails. The 130 Barnes is the most accurate bullet in both of our rifles.

I loaded some 125 grain Sierra spitzers in a .308.  The load was 45.0 grains of Reloder 15, WLR primer, and R-P brass.  It averaged 2724 fps out of my Handi-rifle and turned in groups of about 2" at 100 yards.  Low recoil.

These groups were fired from the hood of my pickup truck using a piece of rolled carpet as a rest.  Not my standard benchrest technique, but illustrative of what we might expect from field conditions.  Velocities were taken with an Alpha Master Chrony at about 15 feet from the muzzle.

Nosler 125 BT is great for those calibers....for varmints.   Wouldn't shoot one at deer.

I reload the 125gr sierra spitzer for my 06 most acurate bullet i have shot in the old ruger mark2, 3 shot group at a hundred yards can be covered with a nickle, i shot a doe 2009 season quatering to me at about 60 yards hit hear in front left shoulder and came out behind right front shoulder, did alott of meat damage but the bullet worked dead deer. i think this bullet would work well on futher away shoots and in the lung and heart area,to me its not a should shoot bullet, but the bullet is very acurate in my rifle

I use the 125gr Nosler BT in my Encore Prohunter 28" 30-06 barrel.  Getting sub MOA groups at 100Yards.   I'm pushing them at about 3350fps.     As SteveP stated great for Varmints NOT FOR DEER.   Now if you were shooting them out of a Contender or Handy 30-30  at 2200 to 2300fps max.   I would say they would work Perfect for deer sized game.
Have great luck with the 110gr Hornady V-MAX also for Varmints!

Have loaded 125 . They work well on deer . The 130's in 30-30 work well in the gun but have not tried on deer yet . Can't understand reluctance to use them on deer . my 7X30 shoots a 120 gr bullet and hammers um. All pass thru shots . The same has been true with the few deer shot with the 3006 and 125's .
If ya can see it ya can hit it !

I loaded 130s in 308 for the wife to shoot doe deer and antelope for a few years till I found a 6mm for her. Accurate, less recoil, and damaged less food than 150s.

As long as you keep the Nosler BT 125 gr below 3100 fps muzzle velocity it makes a great deer killing bullet. I have used it for a number of years from a 308 Win rifle with 46 grs IMR 4895 for 3100 fps and loaded this same load for two other people and they keep coming back for more. They as will as I say that this is a perfect bullet for the average white tail deer. I also use in in my 30X47 HBR with 42 grs IMR 4895 for 2850 fps. I will be using this same bullet in my contender pistol in 30-30AI for deer this coming fall. If you put it in the front shoulder or the ribs I have never had a deer take a step. If you want a great 125 gr varmint bullet use the Speer 125 TNT. Super accurate and will explode on impact.

308 nosler acc load is 51.5 gr of w748 with a 125gr tnt bullet
30-06 try 52 gr of rl 15 behing 125gr tnt bullet
both of these loads are 1/2 moa at 100yds. i can substitute a good 125gr hunting bullet like the rem core lock and use it for deer etc. these are great loads.

I shot some factory Rem 125 grains about 30 years ago and I loaded some 130 Hornaday in 30-06.  I think they are lightly constructed for varmint size game, rather than for whitetail.

To each his own.  I like the 150 better.

I load the 125 grn Nosler Ballistic tip for varmints. Shoot it out of my DPMS .308 and have excellent luck and groups a 1.5'' or less.

110 gr Barnes X, with Norma 201, Federal Match primers, LC 69 match cases 7.62x63.

A tad over 3400fps, and they splat then you hit stuff with them
