Reloading Speer 165 rain RN for .308 Handi
« on: April 20, 2010, 09:34:37 AM »
Getting ready to reload for .308 in a Handi rifle and was thinking about trying the Speer 165 grain roundnose bullet. Initially I was thinking of the Rem 150 grain Corelokt RN but area Iwill be hunting also has feral hogs so thought the 165 grainer might be a good compromise.
Anybody have any expereience with the Speer i the .308??

Man !!
Those 165 gr Speer RN's must be Collector items now. I haven't seen them listed for a long time.
I would not be concerned with the 150 gr Rem's as long as they are CorLokts.
What is the point of Life if you can't have fun.

They are a AWESOME BULLET!!!

Some years back I bought all I could get my hands on!!  Still have a number of boxes and they are cherished!!

YES, they are GREAT in a 308, damn good in my .307 and .300 Savage as well!!

My 308 load is a med heavy load of 4320 powder, a CCI LR primer and a Speer 165RN bullet.

If they shoot good go for it. Like was already mentioned, I wouldn't pass up those 150gr Remington CL's. I have dropped some pretty big hogs using them from a 16.5" barreled Ruger Compact, and factory CL ammo.
