XP-100 bolt work
« on: April 27, 2010, 12:17:31 PM »
I posted this question in the gunsmith section a while back, but got no response. I thought you guy's might be more familiar with what I'm trying to get done.

I have 2 XP bolts that I need some work done to, A 7MM BR that needs a Sako extractor installed and a .221 Fireball that needs the bolt face opened for 7.62 X 39 and a Sako extractor installed. I don't have access to the fixture (Brownells?) or the mill required right now, and would like to get both these guns back into the field. (I'm currently shooting the 7.62 X 39 with the 7mm bolt, not the ideal set up, but it works well on hogs)

If anybody can do this for me or suggest a source, I'd really appreciate a post or a PM. Thanks, Paul.

You could try  Steve Roe in NC at Apache Machine Tool.  See the xp section on Specialty Pictols.com

Sounds like you need a steel lathe, like mine and a mill drill atachment like mine, I done bolt faces and milling the xp bolts before, pretty easy and straight forward, I have 8 xp's, from the bear

I highly recommend http://montourcountyrifles.com/
He charges about $107 parts and labor including return shipping. He's about $50 less than anyone else in the business due to him getting a large stash of Sako Extractors for next to nothing. Less than a week turnaround too. He did a 700 for me this spring, fine quality work.
