NRA Convention in Charlotte
« on: May 13, 2010, 02:36:55 AM »
Local Charlotte papers say it is the city's largest-ever convention.  They are expecting 70 thousand to attend the show and pump at least $20 million dollars into the local economy!

There are over 400 manufactures, collectors and other vendors occupying 300,000 square feet of exhibit hall.

Guest speakers include Former Aaskanl Gov. Sarah Palin, Chuck Norris, Gnewt Gingrich and Ted "Gonzo" Nugent to name a few.  By the way Palin, who normally commands a hefty speaking fee, is doing the NRA convention as a freebie.

If you go stop by the membership booth and say hi.

Just got back from Charlotte.  Unbelievable!  I got to paw over hundreds of guns this evening.  The Smith & Wesson booth alone must have had a couple hundred guns. A couple of my favorite booths were Weatherby's and Kimber's.  Savage had some really cool police/law enforcement stuff at their booth.  Another booth that was real interesting was GSG (German Sport Guns) which had .22lr replicas of 1911 pistols, H&K MP5 and AK47 rifles to name a few.  These .22 versions had the heft and feel of the real thing and appeared to be well made.  Tomorrow I have to remember to bring my camera.   :D
