Marble Peep sight for survivor stock
« on: May 16, 2010, 03:50:29 AM »
Marble Arms lists a stock-mounted tang peep sight(Quigley style) for the Survivor.....anyone had any experience with this setup? Thinking of trying one for my 45-410...Also, what would be used for front sight in the scenario?
12g shortie w/chokes,Tamer .410,12g "Buck" slug gun w/20g extra barrel, 12g smooth bore tracker I, 45/410 w/22vp matched set, 7mm-08, .308 20",

my avatar pic is my 1960 Rambler I bought in 1972 for $175..6 banger 3-on-the-tree...drove it for 5 yrs  22mpg.. was "hot-rodding" (LOL) one night...tore out 1st/reverse gear. Drove it that way for 2 yrs(with no reverse and only 2nd and high)  Had to really plan ahead when parking.
sold it for $125

I can't picture a Marble's on a Survivor stock.  I guess it is possible though as a scope works ok.  IMO you need a hooded front sight to make a tang sight feasible.  I really don't know how you would determine unless it were just experimentation until you got it right?

It might have the advantage of using the stock front sight, unlike the Williams WGRS receiver sight.

I shoot peeps and open front sights, gold bead and blade, as well as globes with various inserts.
Just this last weekend I made hits out to 120+ yards on prairiedog silhouettes with a BSA Martini No.8 (22LR) with a tang peep and gold bead. It works!
A wrist mounted peep, if it will adjust low enough, will allow you to use the stock front sight, unlike mounting the basic Williams in place of the scope rail.
