I am thinking that it would make a good slug gun also.  I do not use the rifled slug barrels because I refuse to pay $10+ for 5 slugs.  I have shot many a deer with the $2-$3 a box slugs and I can afford to practice a little more.  This would be a neat little barrel.

I had to do it! I just ordered an Encore 12 guage turkey barrel - you're right, it does sound like fun to play with.  I will let you know how the new toy does once it gets here.  Who would you guys recommend to lengthen the forcing cone? Any other suggestions? Thanks

I currently have a turkey barrel for my encore and am pretty impressed with the accuracy.  I have been able to get good results with Federal Premium 3" 1 7/8oz. load of #5's.  I have taken a Maxima base and forward positioned it on the barrel and attached a Bushnell red dot scope to it with Bushnell factory rings that were supplied.  I am using a Premos target as a reference but on it at 30 yards I was able to put 56 pellets into the center circle (about 5 inches wide) and 175 pellets total in all the rings (about 11 inches wide).  I hope this info helps somebody.

I got one last year for the spring season and really gave it a workout.

I didnt find a problem with anything I put through it, but since I was given several boxes of the Rem hevishot I figured I would use them.   Great groupings with that and the Winchester # 5's.  For the heck of it I really tested it and shot upwards of 60 yards and still got 15 pellets in the kill zone.   I couldnt imagine what an aftermarket choke would do.  Great Turkey gun!!!!

I also have the 12ga slug barrel which i used this season so far.  Great accuracy!!  Used Win partitions and boy does it knock em down.

And to you Bullseye, I sighted my slug gun in at first with the Brenneke KO's...$3.50 a box at Dicks sporting goods.   They shot great!!!!  May be worth a try and give ya a reason to buy the Encore slug barrell:-)
