I was looking for some loads to try in my new to me 223 standard barrel and ran across this in my Hodgdon data. They list Titegroup and Clays for 55 gr FMJ at about 1060fps. I have a few pounds of Clays left from Claybusting days. I had been trying reduced loads before I got sidetracked with the Handi Rifles. Skip to today, I loaded three 223 brass with 4 gr of Clays, WSR, and 30 gr Varmint Grenades. Shot three 1/2 gallon milk jugs filled with water at 25 long paces. POI was a little low as scope sighted for 55 gr @ 100

Anyway I got about 1700+ fps. Just a pop and no recoil

I have squirrels, skunks, and coons come to my flower bed and bother the dogs. 410 is usually good but I like to use a Hornet sometimes. Thinking of loading these for my superlight and going on a Chipmunk Safari

Try at your own risk (LEGAL DISCLAIMER) Have to test a bit more and see where accuracy/velocity is best for me. I like 223 brass better than Hornet, but still love the Hornet. I know a 22 lr or shorts would work fine. I did get one hole groups a couple years ago with a different powder at a longer range. Used 36gr VGs then.
