375 super mag
« on: May 22, 2010, 02:14:55 AM »
Could someone give me input on the 375 super mag. for hunting, including availability of dies,I believe the brass would have to be made from the 375 win. thanks for any advice. I would have to get all the details but the one im looking at is a Dan Wesson I think its a 7 1/2" ss in excellent condition, what's it worth?

The DW's in 375 usually go for between $750 and $1100 depending on condition and blued or stainless.  I believe Reeds actually makes bullets for it and dies come up regularly at auction.  DW's are great guns and many parts are still available from DW/CZ as well as repair, but check with them, because they might not have parts for the 375 as it wasn't produced by all the different DW companies.  I've owned a 357SM since 1991 and had owned model 15's in 357 mag since 1977.  My brother bought his 1st in 1972 and still has it.

I forgot to mention thedanwessonforum.com; they have info on most DW's ever produced and many entries on 375's.  You could ask there for further info and current sources as well as loading data.

I p/u the Dan Wesson, it has an 8" barrel,no blue wearing it has an aimpoint 2000 red dot, uncle mikes shoulder holster and 35 rounds of ammo. Now for the problem I'm unable to locate any dies other than at redding,I need to find a more affordable set. Any help out there? I posted elsewhere but no luck yet. I was able to get it for $500,I
dont want to make it $700 with dies.

Check out Ebay, they still allow dies and reloaders, I believe the 375SM is a shortened 375 Winchester, but I'd check with Reed's ammo, ??? or ask on the reloading forum.  I used 357mag dies to load my 357SM, they're turned nearly totally out, but I get fine reloads, I did upgrade to a titanium set for the SM as someone was selling a used set for about what I paid for my new Lee set.
