Browsing again today for 1911's
« on: May 14, 2010, 12:11:36 PM »
I went insearch of another 1911/45acp for my collection.  I found two RIA's in the used case for as much as www.centerfiresystems.com/ sells them for more than new??? I think that centerfire has them listed for $379 and there marked used for $400. I did see a small colt 1911 in s/s that had all the bells and whistles for $550.(used)  Another shop had everything used but nothing decent really caught my eye.  The norm seems to be over $1,000 for a new 1911.  I saved up some more cash and its burning a hole in my wallet for another 1911 but after a survey of most of them I'll have to save up some more. I may take a look at the colt again it was purdy too.  But the RIA may make a cheap shooter/ beater too?  Dam now i want both..... ::)

What really impressed me today was the CZ75 in 9mm polished stainless she's a really purdy thing.  But again its a $700 price tag too.  There was a time when the CZ's were used for $230 to $300 tops in excellent condition with the orginal box and case plus the orginal papers too.  In just three years from when i got my last CZ those times seem to be long gone now.  There is everything else in the used case now but CZ's.

The bottomline is I have my C&RFFL03 and i need to find a dealer who will get what i want and i pay the dealer cost price and just pay a transfer fee of $25.  I guess its time to shop smart.

Whats the smaller colt 1911 with the stainless slide and the alumimum frame???  From the appearance of it, it has all the bells and whistles too like the beaver tail ect.  What do you guys think of it???  I'm thinking more of a CCW, but more like William says a BBQ gun???  I won't shoot it much.

Sorry for all my different thoughts but we need to keep our options open on what ever comes along used that catches my eye thats different than what i have too. I know i need to break away from the basic GI 1911's too.
