Encore muzzle loading rifle
« on: May 21, 2010, 10:35:50 AM »
Are TC Encore muzzleloaders worth the extra money? I want one to add a few days of hunting deer in the year. I also want one because you can switch the barrels. Should I save up some money for this or just go with a NEF muzzleloader?

Thanx

Ok I will see about getting one I wanted to make sure first because for that price I can get 3 H&R/NEF muzzleloaders and if it wasn't that much better I wouldn't get one but i'll see what I can do about getting one.

An Encore will retain more of it's resale value then most muzzleloaders.

I wouldn't really want to sell it because I am pretty young and if I can keep it as long as possible that would be great

I have an NEF 10g and my buddy has an NEF in 270 and 223.
The NEF is not really a switch barrel design, so it is apples and oranges. You can't buy a 2nd barrel as easily as you can with TC. Also, NEF performance is hit or miss. My 10g won't eject shells at random, my buddies 223 strings shots after 3-4 shots.

My TC on the other hand is a tack driver in 308 and 50cal. Much better fit and finish overall.

If you need a gun today, get what you can afford, but if you can wait, buy a TC, or look for a used one in any available caliber and buy a barrel for it in 50cAL. There is no shortage of used guns out there.
