444 or 450 or 45/70 Kathadan barrel?
« on: November 26, 2003, 06:58:41 AM »
I've got another post asking about laminated forends for the Kathadan barrels.  My question here is which one (i.e. caliber).

I'm a .44 mag shooter so the 444 is top on my list right now so that I could have the same supply of bullets between the two.  The 450 doesn't sound like it's quite as popular as either the 444 or 45/70.  Of course, the 45/70 is the most popular, but what do you think?  Help me decide.

If anyone out there has a Kathadan barrel and wants to share their experiences, good or bad, feel free.

I think I posted to your other post but if not I'll go again. I have an 18" Custom shop full bull barrel in 450 marlin thats ported. That should be as close to a Kathadan barrel as you can get. I have shot it as a rifle and it is bruital. No fun to shoot. I keep it as a pistol now and enjoy shooting it that way. If I were to do it again I would probably go with a 444. Just for the reasons you stated.   KN
