Peltor Tactical 6 Stereo electronic ear protection???
« on: November 22, 2003, 11:24:57 AM »
Does any one have any first hand information about the subject ear protection. Good and bad..
As to:
Fit and weight comfort?
 Noise suppression?
Static or electronic noise?
Quality in your opinion?

Does $119.00 sound about right? plus shipping.

Thanks for your input, Jerry

Peltor Tactical 6 headphones

I bought a pair of the the model you are asking about but paid more for them. I wanted the best. These probably are the best that use that particular technology. However I didn't like the way they cut out loud sound completely with a resulting loud "click". The safe volume level would then return quickly but immediately after the "click", they sounded like ordinary shooting muffs.
I did some research and found PRO EAR Dimension1 headphones. I understand they "compress" the sound instead of cutting it out altogether.
With the PRO EAR I can hear everything, all the time, but at a safe level. They cost me about twice as much though. My advice is to try them side by each before you lay your money down. I gave the Peltors away.
You can't pay "too" much for something you put in front of your eyes, over your ears or on your feet!

The Wal-Mart in my neck of the woods has the Remingtons on Clearance for $80.  Picked a pair myself, you might want to check your local Wal-Mart.

I've had mine for two years now and the work great. Both the amplification and the suppression are spot-on and I've never heard a "click" in between the two. I use them often when pulling trap, and the pull call is louder than the report of the gun
