FWIW, Ya gotta ASK..................... I find that most folks, hosting yard/garage sales, won't openly put out a firearm, but will sometimes fetch one/more - if properly/nicely/politely asked if they have any F/S.
I've had better luck by asking if they had "any .22's or other type guns ?", instead of asking about "old" or "antique" or just "guns".
I think the reference to a .22, or sometimes an airgun, doesn't alarm folks as much as some of the terminology familiar and unalarming to gun-a-holics.
