For Memorial Day - Cannon fire at last!
« on: May 31, 2010, 02:47:13 PM »
I haven't fired a cannon since I got sick with severe bilateral pneumonia back in March.

Since then I've been pretty busy just getting my feet back under me. I get around much better now, I can walk on my own without the cane (on familiar terrain) but I still have very little stamina. A couple of hours on my feet and I'm totally exhausted. Partly due to some loss of lung capacity, but mainly because of the sackful of meds I'm taking.

But I had decided that today it was time to shoot! Besides, the neighborhood kids have come to expect cannon fire on holidays.

So I sucked it up (despite having a rough night) and did my duty today!

It was a short show, I only rolled three rounds for one gun, but for me it was a satisfying accomplishment. Sorry there are no smoke & fire vids or pics, I kept everything as simple as I could. By the time cleaning was done, I was beat!

But I'm happy!  ;D

Terry,

For what it's worth... I'm glad you had a chance to get out and shoot off your cannon. I'd say it's pretty safe to assume that the neighborhood kids were really looking forward to it (cannons tend to have that effect).

Best wishes,
Aaron

Yes, the kids enjoy watching the crazy old man with the cannons. ;D

Another first today, first day back at work.

Part time, light duty, shuffling papers and answering the phone for at least a month, but it's a start.

The machine shop is calling out to me, but it's still off-limits...  :-\

Terry, Baby steps at first. Glad you're shuffling around. Take it easy. The machine shop will still be there when the Doc's say it's time.

Terry,

It's great to hear that you heard a few booms; did the sound make you smile?
RIP John. While on vacation July 4th 2013 in northern Wisconsin, he was ATVing with family and pulled ahead of everyone and took off at break-neck speed without a helmet. He lost control.....hit a tree....and the tree won.  He died instantly.

The one thing that you can almost always rely on research leading to, is more research.

That's very good news, Terry!  Mike and I continue to wish you well and are looking forwards to movies of smoke and flame next time.  We certainly have enjoyed them in the past.  Take care.

Terry, I'm sure this is true.  I believe machines tools release an ozone when they work metal.  When the cutting tools work the metal, they emit ultra low frequency sound waves that causes that ozone to resonate and oscillate, I just know that resonating, oscillating ozone has healing properties...Check back and let us know how it works.
