Is my TC 2.5 X 7 scope powerful enough to be recoil proof?
« on: July 01, 2010, 04:54:57 PM »
I have it on my 14" 7x30 Waters and it is fine but was wondering about putting it on my 14" .44 mag.?

Do you think that the recoil would be too much on the scope and possibly damage it? Reason I ask is the old eyes ain't what they used to be and I'm thinking of selling the 7x30 Waters barrel anyway.

I've got a TC 2.5x7 on my 14" .44mag.  I've shot several hundreds of rounds through it and never had any problems.

TC guarantees them to be "recoil proof".  I always heard that the TC Recoil Proof scopes, the old Simmons Gold Medal handgun scopes and the Nichols handgun scopes were made by the same folks.  Having had several of each, they appear identical and I never had any of them fail yet.  They have served on some heavy hitters, including 44Mag and 45-70's. ;D

I think you'll be OK on a 44 Mag.

Between a 460 S&W and a 500 S&W Mag., I broke two "Recoil Proof" T/C scopes but each was promptly replaced with a new one with no complaint.

Whoa! That is a lot of recoil coming from those pistols. My .44 mag will be mild compared to those. Thanks for the news.

Had one on my 15" .444 Marlin barrel for a couple hundred rounds, no problems.  Took it off to go with a fixed 4x, it now rest's on top of a 16" .308, also with no problems.

Mine had been fine with a 30-30 barrel, and I also had it on a 209 x 50 15 inch ml barrel for a while, which with 100 grains Pyrodex, thumps pretty hard.  Never gave me a problem.

Went to the rang today and it kept the zero where I put it. I have ordered 60 rounds of Hornady LEVERevolution ammunition to try out yesterday which will be here next week, so will get to re-zero again. I love shooting the Contender!

Have had a TC 2.5 RP scope on a 14" 44 mag rechambered to 444 Marlin for 20 years.
Don't know how many rounds I've fired but would guess at least 500 + and have had
no problems with the scope.

Had a 2.5-7X on my 357 Max with no problems, has since been installed on my 22 Hornet and continues to perform great.
