Can anyone tell me what kind of scope mount I should use on my new Remington SPR18. Just got one in the 30-06 and not real sure what would be my best bet

That particular rifle is designed to use the 2 grooves on the barrel as a mount for 22style rings. Slippage of the mounts is a common problem, especially on bigger chamberings such as the '06. Best bet is to get the barrell drilled and tapped for a weaver type base and use the appropriate rings.
The stock mount system is short and the reticle turret on the scope can also cause fore and aft mounting problems.
Just Google SPR18 scope problems and you can judge for yourself.

Use 11mm dovetail rings.  Preferably airgun rings with a 'scope stop pin.'  Put the ring with the pin in the rear and engage the cross-slot groove so the rings don't slip under recoil.  Or, as already mentioned, D&T for conventional base(s).  I've done it both ways.

Hi,

I posted this in the other thread on the SPR-18.  I purchased one and it looks like it was made for the rifle.  I just do not have mine back yet.

As to mounting a scope. Do a search on E-bay for the following   " 25mm Rifle Scope Dual Ring Mount for 11mm Rail "  It has a cut down base that is close to the right length for the 11mm grooves on the receiver. The price is right and has a locking screw that should go into the cross groove in the receiver.
