O-ring
« on: June 05, 2010, 05:05:36 AM »
Sometimes I'm a slow learner.....should have done this 3 years ago, but didn't see any changes with the forearm off or on, tried sanding the forearm...sporatic results.  Realoading showed promise, but what looked great one day was poor the next.  UNTIL THE O-RING!

Here is a post that explains it.

Several others in the FAQ's under "accurizing"

So now I'll be going through my old load data and replacing it.

Ya know, I'm really glad you put it that way.
Consensus has been,, "if it shoot's better with the forearm off, it could use some work",,,and while that may be true,
Significant gain can be made experimenting with different forearm bedding techniques/accurizing tips in the faq's. Just because it dosen't shoot better without the forearm, dosen't mean it won't shoot better with modification.
I've found each barrel frame combo seem's to have it's own little peculairities, each fit's a bit different. And most need some kind of stabilization to take out vibration/assist lock up or allow float. A big part IS being able to load for these things, custom tuning the charge for that sweet "node", but it's worth the time and ammo at least trying different things if your after smaller groups.
Another thing I found worthwhile is the set screw under the forearm screw, it makes it easy to get it the same each time.
