when do I have to unload and let them 'rest'. What happens if I leave them loaded for immediate access and use? How often do I have to install new springs, etc. Stuff like that.

Compression does not fatigue springs as quickly as cycles

I read an article about this in one of the gun rags a while back, the author claimed, spring fatigue was a problem years ago, but today with better manufacturing practices, it not a real concern.

If you are concerned think about your car sitting out there on its springs all day. Again, it's the cycles.
