40 s&w data
« on: June 09, 2010, 08:49:46 AM »
After a couple of years of rifle loading I have decided to start loading for my Springfield XD40. A local shop sells Winchester 165 gr Truncated cone bullets for $15.99 per 100. I have scoured my manuals but can't find any reloading data on this bullet. Winchester's site is of no use. Does anyone have any published info on this bullet? I am planning to use it for plinking and practice at the range so hot loads are neither necessary nor desirable. Thanks in advance.

I would have to go out to the reloading room and look in my book, but if you have any info for a 165 grain bullet that would be a good starting point.

I load 165 grn plated bullets for my 40 s&w with 5.1 grains of H Universal, the regular "UNIVERSAL". It's on the mild/mid side but has been cycling fine.

The Alliant Powder site shows 7.2gr of Unique as the max load for 165gr bullets.
I use 6.5gr of Unique for my plinking load with 165gr plated bullets.
GOOD LUCK and GOOD SHOOTING!!!
