Azden PCS-2000
« on: June 10, 2010, 07:00:30 AM »
I picked one up at a garage sale for $5.  The owner assured me it worked well.  You see, I don't know squat about radios but my son does and plays with them all the time.  Thought of him when I saw it and figured I've lost more on less even if it is useless.  Is it possibly worth anything or did I just spend $5 in hopes of doing him a favor?

It is a 2 meter ham band radio. It requires a license
to operate legally. It is an older radio that works
very well. Had one as my first unit.

Hope he gets to enjoy it.

a ham ticket is easy to obtain nowadays. do a net search for a local ham club. they will be able to tell you when they will be holding a test session. obtain the technician class study book. radio shack used to carry them. they have every question and answer in them. also several online sites offer sample test yo see how your study sessions are going. it is worth getting the license and having some radio fun.73's

Guys, I couldn't care a rat's backside less about operating a radio legally.  My inquiry is nothing more than whether or not this item will have any value to my son.  Don't worry!  He has degrees in electrical engineering and other related areas that although I paid for them, I have no idea what they mean.  I just wondered if this thing will fill any need for him?  Is this thing the greatest thing since sliced bread or is it crap is all I need to know?

it's a good serviceable radio that requires a license to operate. operation without a license is not recommended. good day.
