I agree!

A very interesting link to a slide show of the Casper shoot last year.

Board rules require posting of links to photo albums and slide include a synopsis of what is in the slide show when posted.  I have PM'd Oyvind and advised him of the rules.  He is Norway and 8 hours ahead of us in time so I will give him time to modify his original post.  If it is not modified in the morning it will be deleted per the rules.

There is enough description in the follow on posts to let those dial up folks know what is in the link, The rule isn't to prevent the posting of such links, but to explain what the link is so those with older computers can decide if they want take the time to open the link...a simple courtesy give a synopsis.

Granted this would be stretching the rules a bit, but the link does have the words "photos" and "show" in it.  Couldn't that very loosely be interpreted as a synopsis?  And the title of the post is "Many very nice photos"   ::)

Fabulous photos of some impressive cannons and mortars. You can see the trials lifting up off the ground at the moment of firing and even see the dirt behind the mortars being shoved up. Many thanks for posting. Frank

Douglas:
Can you explain to me, just how one would find enough information in this thread to retrieve the initial offering, if the opening link were to be deleted? I don't see anything that would do so. Perhaps I am reading this incorrectly? You already know that I have zero computer savy.

It's like when an image I'd like to see has been removed by a google fish or something-or-other and I am only left with a red X in it's place. Can these be retrieved?

You've explained other things in the past and told me to not be afraid to experiment and just click things but I'm afraid that my one misplaced click, might wipe-out the universe and human life as we know it. :'(

Richard I saw this yesterday about 20 minutes after Oyvind posted it.  If I had followed the letter of the rule, I would have deleted it right there.

Instead I sent Oyvind an email asking him to fix the link.  Unfortunately his email on file, is no longer vailid...at least  it it isn't accepting email.

So, I sent him an PM.   I haven't heard back from him.

If the first post in a thread is deleted the the whole thread is deleted.

It is kinda of interesting, I didn't get one single complaint this time about just a link posted.

O.K. so I'm correct in that gone is gone.  Do you know how long it took me to figure-out how to lift and post Rick's page?  I felt like Slim Pickins riding the bomb.;D

BTW: I once told James Earl Jones that I remembered him in that movie. He said I couldn't have and that it was his first movie. I told him I knew that and that he was the radio operator. His jaw dropped. He was great in the Broadway show, "The Great White Hope". I went in to see him there almost 50 years ago.

Thanks for posting this slideshow, Oyvind; there are some great shots here.
RIP John. While on vacation July 4th 2013 in northern Wisconsin, he was ATVing with family and pulled ahead of everyone and took off at break-neck speed without a helmet. He lost control.....hit a tree....and the tree won.  He died instantly.
