Mueller APV 4.5 -14 is probably the best optics you can get for the price.  And......as Tim stated it is very handi rifle friendly.  Some of the busnells and simmons are not as easily mounted.  You will not be disappointed in the Muellers quality or their lifetime warranty.

At one time I bought Red field only, but when they went out of business and after dealing with a few cheap scopes Tasco to name one, a couple years back I started buying Nikons, not a bad scope for the money, Leupold makes the new Red field, both will run you about $150.00 but Mid-South sells refurbished Nikons fairly priced. You can get higher power scopes cheaper, but you really are not saving anything, most have very poor quality.
