Well, since I live in Indiana, and it is a shotgun state, my favorite isn't a rifle.  It is my Remington 870 sp 12ga.  It has a cantilevered scope mount, a 1.5-5x simmons scope, and is a smoothbore, with a rifled choke tube in it.  I bought it back in 1990, and to date, I have killed 30 deer with it.  It loves the old winchester foster slugs, and when I do my part, it will keep 3 shots in an inch at 50 yds.

30-30 or 30-06. either are great deer killers. 30-06 when I need more distance.

fav-Remington Mohawk .308 w/3x9....more accurate than my 7mm-08 Rem 7 ever was...also wears a black glass stock, little noisy in brush but quick and light in the blind or treestand...anything in the lane will go DOWN, I use 165 grain Federal premiums.

sold a Ruger Compact in .243, because deer shot went down but lived....I tried it out last season.  In .308 a Compact would be right in there with the Mohawk.

Trying out a Ruger 96 44mag for close treestand shooting this season, I put on Tru-Glo fiber optics.

14-year old trying a NEF in .243 with redot scope.

Remington 7 in .308 is my go to gun. With a Burris compact 3x9 it does one fine job and has made the most venison for me.

Winchester 94 .30-30 and apeture sights.  Nothing like the classic and what will be my primary this season while hunting a special big buck.

Marlin 1894 in .44 magnum.  With it's 16-1/2 inch barrel it is perfect for the thickest woods and carries so well when humping it over rough country.

I'll have all three in the truck with me when I go just in case one has a problem or a special oportunity comes up.

I MUST OPT FOR MY .338 WIN MAG LOADED DOWN TO 358 WINCHESTER BALLISTICS.  I HAVE MY DAD'S REM 760 IN 270 AND A SPRINGFIELD 03 SPORTER IN 30-06 THAT MY FRIEND HUNTED WITH FOR OVER 40 YEARS.  AND THERE ARE OTHERS, BUT MY 338 IS MY HUNTING PARTNER AND HAS NEVER DONE ME WRONG.  AND THE MEAT I PICK OFF THE BULLET IS SO TENDER.

:D I'd have to say that my favorite deer gun is my Ruger m77 30-06 with a leopold 3-9x scope. For years I used a rem 760 30-06,with good success, but when I went to a bolt gun it was pure heaven. The Ruger fits me like it is attached to me,light, quick and accurate. If I had to sell all my guns except one...I would keep my ruger m77,"GREAT GUN". Thanx

My Remington Mountain Rifle chambered for 7mm-08.  It is topped with a K-6 Weaver.  I use 140 grain Nosler Ballistic Tips over 42.0 grains of Hodgdon's BL-C2.  I don't own a chronograph, so I have no idea what kind of velocity I am getting, however, 99% of the time I shoot a deer with this load, they drop in their tracks.
When it comes time to shoot, SHOOT.  Don't talk.

Most kills-Remington Mohawk .308 with 165 Fed. Supremes. purchased at pawn shop for $175, has 3x9 scope. I added the scope and a fiberglass stock that used to be in the Cabela's book. Have used it about 16 or 17 years.

For in close I am trying the Ruger 99 .44 magnum lever with fiber optic sights this fall. (IE: treestand in cedar/thick stuff)

It's basically the shot placement and feel, a few years ago I shot a doe in a powerline about 50 yards out with a .410 single, deer ran toward us and died 10 feet from the crossing two-track....which made pick up easy to get the Bronco to :)  When I mean feel, I am small framed and prefer a Ruger Compact, Mohawk or Ruger carbine (96, 99)

NEF Handi-Rifle in .30-06.  2X pistol scope out above the forearm.  Easy to carry, and the deer don't know it's not very expensive.

I'm kinda partial to my tang safety Ruger 270 Win but I would have to say my favorite rifle is a 1952 vintage Model 70 Feather weight in 308 Win. that my long time friend, mentor, and hunting buddy started me out deer hunting with. He passed away several years ago and left me the rifle in his will and I will cherish it until I go to the big Elk Camp in the Sky. Then it will become my Grandsons.

It would definitely be my tried and true OMBH in .41Magnum. I've had it since the 60's when they first came out and it's put down everything from armidillo in Texas to an old range cow that was after my gizzard. My next choice would be my S&W 657 Mountain Gun. Both are easy to pack in a cross-draw holster and sufficiently powerful for any deer. RKBA!

If I had to pick just "one" rifle for deer hunting it would be my Winchester model 88 lever action 308win. It's my best "all round" rifle. I couldn't live with just one rifle. :(  I'm gonna put a Leupold VX II 3x9-40mm scope on it. I use Remington 150gr. soft point Core-Lokt bullets in my 308win. I got two deer with it last year

I have a Marlin model 336CS 35rem. with a Williams receiver mounted peep sight and fire sight on the front. I use Remingtom 200gr. soft point Core-Lokt bullets. I use this for my brush or deep woods hunting. No deer with this yet.

I also have a Remington model 700 Classic 280rem. This is for my open country hunting, which I don't do a whole lot of. I shoot Remington 140gr  pointed soft points Core-Lokt bullets in this. I have a Redfield Tracker 3x9-40mm scope on it. Shot one deer with it :)

I have a Marlin 444 with a 22 inch barrel. This is my Black Bear and wild boar rifle, haven't done either with it yet. I bought a Winchester model 94 big bore 356win from a guy I work with(couldn't beat the price), I pretty much gave it to my father. He doesn't mind the model 94's, I'd much rather have a Marlin.

Right now mine would be my t/c contender 10 inch in 7-30 waters with a t/c 2-7 scope. I load 120 gr nosler ballistic tips and it shoots less than an inch  at 100 yards.  It really knocks them for a loop.

My all-time Favorite Hunting Rifle is the Springfield Krag Sporter;cal 30/40.
But I recently discovered that, over the last 45 years, that it gained a little weight.
It always came up to the shoulder quicker than any of my other guns.
For the last few years,Ive beem using a little Winchester'94,and it is a pleasure to carry and shoot.
I'm also trying out a 30 cal GI Carbine,and just bought a Savage'99,in 300 SAV.
The Krag is now in semi retirement.

For me there is no debate as I only have one rifle.  It is a custom Rifles Inc. 6.5x55 on a Remington 700 action.  Life is so much simpler with one rifle albeit not as exciting!
