93 Mauser
« on: July 04, 2011, 09:01:05 PM »
Found a trim little full stocked carbine in a pawn shop couple of weeks ago, 93 action, Fagen Mannlicher stock, 19" barrel with a barrel band and the front sight mounted on top of that.  Had a 4 power Weaver mounted on top, very nice older piece, walked out with it for $200.  I started my love affair with the 7mm with a 98 chambered in 7X57 30 years ago, had a complete 95 Chilian carbine until a friend talked me out of it, and now this one.  Same friend saw this one in my hand at the shop and was really wanting it if I didn't buy.  Took him and the 93 along with 11 other rifles to my cabin this weekend and had a ball shooting this old girl.  His first shot leaning over the railing smashed a rock about the size of a deer's lung at 200 yd with it.  (Had to check and make sure he didn't grab the wrong gun case when I dropped him off today.) ;D  She shot pretty good with the cheapest ammo I could find, Priv Partsian (spelling wrong?)  She's not a beauty queen, some freckling on the barrel, light pitting on parts of the action where a peep was mounted.  Only wish I knew the whole story on her, she's found a new home for years to come.  DP

I'm envious!

Sounds like a great find.  Fun little rifle to shoot, and chambered in one of the all-time great cartridges.

Those 7X57's in decent shape are hard to find.  I have a M-95 Chilean I ran across years ago, but another 93 or 95 at a good price to keep it company would be hard to pass up!
