question on Belisle conibear traps
« on: June 16, 2010, 01:56:08 PM »
Just purchased some 220 Belisle conibear traps.  The supplier said these are 220's but when I measure them outside to outside is 8 inches; inside is 7 inches.  I have some Duke 220's; outside on the Dukes is 7 inches, inside is 6 1/2.  These Belisles will not fit in a round 5 gallon bucket.  My question is:  do the Canadians measure their traps different than we do?  Here in KY we are allowed an inside jaw spread on a conibear of 7.5 inches on landset.  What gives on the size difference?  Any help would be appreciated.

Fish, in Kentucky, it says body gripping traps with a maximum inside jaw spread of 7 1/2 inches measured parallel with the trigger.  That's for dry land sets.  So we can use 220's here for bucket sets.  These Belisle traps won't fit a 5 gallon bucket.  Where can I get buckets that will fit?
