223 and deer ammo

I have a new 223 Handi and want to hunt eastern deer (150 pounds) out to 75 yards maybe 100 at the max outside.
I feel that the 223 may be marginal but that being said, what bullet would you suggest. Would one of the heavier bullets be better for penetration assuming my 9:1 twist would handle them successfully?
What brand and bullet would you suggest?
I have a ML and the 223 would be used when my daughter would be hunting with me and shot
placement would be adequate.

 If you have to buy factory ammo I'd look into the 60 grn or higher 'soft-points(not frangible varmint rounds)'. I think Winchester loads a 'power-point' in the 60 or 62 grn I thought. If you load your own the partition is where I'd go.

If you roll your own:
Sierra 65 gr SBT.
Made some for a friend' son's 223.
He dropped a 200 lb 8 pt at 80 yds. Boiler room shot.
My handloads have shot nicer deer than I have.

Thanks for the advice.  I think I will go with the Federal 60 grain Nosler factory loads.

The heaviest Barnes TSX you can find, but that will depend on what rifling your Handi has.  If it is an older one with the 1 in 12 twist, 55gr is about your limit, but if it is a new one with a 1 in 9 twist then I'd use the 62 grain offerings from Black Hills Ammo.

55 grain PSP or 62 grain TSX or something like that. I have killed deer well outside of 200 yards with my 223 Rossi with 55 grain PSP handloads.

Blackhills  60 grain soft points work good in my 223 for whitetails.

I have taken several deer with a model 70 chambered in .223.

I reload for my most all my rifles...and for those ocassions where I did use the .223 for deer I used the Nosler Partition.

Shot placement is critical and there are other calibres that I would recomend as much better choices for deer sized game.
