hunt4570, You might try this guy, he has built me several stocks. The wood on his web site is plain but he has fancier stuff depending on what you want to spend. If you e-mail him, he will send you pictures of blanks
w\ prices. Nice Guy! www.gunstocksink.com Good Luck!

Hunt, I have not done a TC, but I have done 1885, Sharps, 1895 and I am currently working on a No 1 he did for me. Some require more fitting than others, but I fit the acrion to the stock with a file. If that gives you a idea of how little material you remove. If you take your time, it fairley easy. As far as the outside of the stock goes, you can take off a little or alot, depending on what you like. I use a electric sander for that. I use TrueOil finish with good results. Hope this helps

hunt4570 - Don't forget to check out The Woodsmith stocks at Bullberry.   Even Fred's untility sets are real nice wood, not much money at all, and are completely finished (although he will also sell you one that's not if you want to do it yourself and save a few extra dollars).

Here is some of Fred's utility grade wood.  I bought it unfinished with the buttpad and sling swivels installed.  There was no inletting involved, just surface prep.  I used Tru-Oil and left the wood unstained.[/img]

I got my stock for my TC from Fred also. It's a beautiful piece of bastogne walnut. The only problem I had was it took 3 months to get it.
It was to be unfinished, but he had finished it. He did not charge me for the finish but the first summer here in Texas, the stock got sticky and I had to refinish it. That has been about 4 or 5 years ago, maybe things are better in his shop now.

Hot-damn!   We're posting pictures of Fred's wood?   Hey, any excuse to show this stick that he made for me.

Ladobe,
just don't be trying to show us any pictures of your wood, family site.:)

Hunt4570,
that's a 20" barrel in 6.5 Bullberry.  The balance is awsome, I can shoot that little carbine better offhand than any other rifle I own.  As with all Bullberry products it easily shoots under moa, or they will make it that way.  The first 10 shots out of the barrel could be covered with a quarter...these where fireforming loads.  The Weaver Grand Slam scope is great glass for the cash.
