I may be turning to the Glock side.
« on: August 03, 2010, 06:28:13 AM »
Last night I held a Glock 21 & 21 SF.  Up till this point in my life I've only held the regular models, but last night after holding the "small frame" model I was really taken back.  The sights on the regular model didn't line up at all when I pulled the gun up, but when I did the same thing with the SF model it wasn't nearly as bad at all, and the grip felt better overall.  The SF model also had the ambi mag release on it which is nice to have.  Now that there's a glock out there that seems to fit me better I may have to get back on the wagon.

Now the only debate is 21SF in 45acp, or 20SF in 10mm.

When I found out that the G-23.40, was not any larger than my SP101 .357, I made the switch.

If you're used to shooting a certain grip angle that's what your hand is going to do, but you can change that if you want to.  After a few hundred rounds and draws the Glock grip angle is now natural to me on the first presentation.  But, if I go to the range and shoot a 1911, CZ or similar grip angle a bunch and then pick up the Glock it's pointing high.  I then have to do a few dry fires and presentations to get it back.  It's a bit of a pain but since I shoot the Glocks more than those others it's not too much of a bother.  I've found that a high grip on a DA revolver is similar to the Glock angle as well.
And yes, I do prefer the 20SF that I have to my friends regular 21 and I have medium hands.

Don't mean to pick nits, but the 'SF' refers to short frame, meaning the grip is shorter front to back than the standard 21 or 20. 'Small frame' in Glock speak generally refers to the 9mm/.40 size frames.
Though you would want to know.

I appreciate the correction.  The whole SF frame glocks are new to me, but I really like them and the idea.  I was really suprised by the way it felt in my hand.  Now I just have to wait for the right deal to come around and I think I'll jump on a Glock 20 SF 10mm.

Good choice. I like the big 10mm, I bought a 2nd gen Glock 20 and a 2nd gen Glock 21 recently. The pistols are basically identical, but I get far better accuracy with the 10mm for some reason.
(Gratuitous pic opportunity)

Actually 'SF' refers to the Glock term "Slim frame", not small frame.
Just thought you all may want to know.

I've seen it called both, but can't find it on their website anywhere to confirm it.  In any case, there is an SF on the side of my G20 in 10mm   ;D.  I really like that gun!
