Suggestions on stocks for a USFA Rodeo .......

Gentlemen,

  Not much of a Single Action guy, other than appreciating the design and the history behind it. Don't even own a single Ruger SA.  So I'm out of the loop as to whats available for grips.

  I've got a USFA Rodeo II in matte nickle,  4 5/8" barrel with the horrid brown plastic grips.  I do carry and use it...though it really doesn't get ABUSED.

  I'd like to replace the grips with some fancy wood stocks. I'd like to keep the traditional grip contour, though maybe a little fuller in width.  The SK grips in lighter colored burlwood seem to be the ones that "trip my trigger".

  Any thoughts as well as pics would be appreciated.

 I'd like new stocks for my rodeo II. I'd like to go with some fancy or figured hardwood. I'm out of the loop with whats out there as I'm not all that UP on Single Actions. Hence my request for SUGGESTIONS?

Inspector, what are those?  They look like Stag or maybe 'Jigged Bone' (which is stag that has had the cuts deepened by hand)  Anyway they look interesting!  44 Man

FN, a couple sources would be Buffalo Brothers, & Ellen Hunting, I'm not 100% sure about the spelling on Ellen, but give it a try on Google.
Good luck, the Rodeo is deserving of a good set of stocks.

I  dislike wood grips for most pistols. Just a personal thing, and I would rather have wood than plastic, but I really like Stag, Bone, or Ivory grips on pistols.

I like the look and feel of the smooth black 'buffalo horn', especially on a 'silvery' gun.

FN, Check with Eagle grips on the web. They have some very nice looking grips and they told me that if you own a USFA all they need are the grips to fit them. Most of the grip makers want at least the gripe frame or the entire gun. Later Fairshake

  Initially I thought some figured hardwood.  Now I'm not so sure some stags or black/ebony type stocks???

  Then again...BOTH of my FA's have the black ebony stocks. Thats what pushhed me towards hardwood.

  Been busy as heck with a a couple of projects here at home.  I assure You I will post my plans as well as the final outcome.

FN In MT, I'd look at as many different stocks as I could, ponder it awhile, then make the decision for the kind of stocks that will please YOU! It's your gun, make it pleasing to you. You are the one that is going to carry & shoot it, make it your gun. Let us know what you decide please.
