Scimitar Oryx, Addax and Dhama Gazelle...Banned to hunt in TX??

Thought I saw something that said these species are now banned to hunt in TX.  Any info???

I recently saw an ad for Scimitar Horned Oryx at a discount because of a proposed ban, but I haven't seen anything giving a definitive date.

Aren't they on private land stocked there by private money? Would be like saying you can't take your steers to market. I suppose if they were on state or fed land all bets would be off.

What would be the purpose of banning them? Do they bring anything bad to the ecosystem that other wild animals don't?

What a surprise, a federal judge without common sense or good judgment.  I suppose if that passes, ranchers who have already saved these animals from extinction can no longer conduct management activities, might as well open the gates and release them.  Hmmm, will the federali judge spend some tax dollars to take care of them then?

Not to make this a political rant (mine) but they would rather see wild burro and horses running around then these magnificent animals??  I am suprised they weren't ordered butchered to go to a homeless shelter. 

So hunting them in Texas is done??

Call me paranoid, but I wonder if the ilk of Fund For Animals gets more funding and political lobby if these animals stay "endangered"?  Are we looking at a backdoor political move?

On another note...next summer 2011, I'm going to a meeting in SanAntonio.  A couple of friends want me to set up a hunt for them (me too).  I was thinking of the Mayfield Ranch. One guy wants Oryx...I was thinking of Aoudad but their price is $1,000 higher than I want to pay.  Their price for Oryx is below most listed prices.  Maybe I'll do an Oryx as well.
